‘Paraplegic Olympian, Angela Madsen is rowing the Pacific in her ocean rowing boat ‘Spirit of Orlando’. You may recall Angela’s first attempt at this crossing last year. On that occasion she had to abort her mission as she encountered seriously adverse weather conditions. The important thing though was that Angela was safe and lived to try again. For a time the boat was lost at sea too.
In time it all came right and Angela is now on her second attempt at rowing across the Pacific. From Los Angeles to Waikiki. This time, fellow ocean rower Tara Remington is attempting the crossing with her and the boat has been modified to take two rowers.
Both Angela and Tara are good friends of Orlando’s. All three of them took part in the 2007/8 Trans Atlantic Rowing Race. Orlando had planned to help Angela project manage her Pacific attempts but sadly is no longer with us. Angela and Tara are both raising funds for charities in their own countries of USA and New Zealand. Angela has also authorised Orlando Rogers Foundation to raise funds through her rowing challenge to promote Orlando’s charity.
So dig deep and see if you can sponsor Angela in her epic challenge. Rowing an ocean is an astounding feat of achievement. Rowing an ocean when you have additional challenges such as being paraplegic is a thought of endurance beyond the capacities and thoughts of many full able bodies people.
You can follow Angela via the satellite tracker and messages can be sent to her if you have any burning questions to pose about Ocean Rowing.’
We at ORF know how superbly strong and determined these indomitable women are. We are immensely proud of them and their efforts to improve the lot of others through charitable fund raising.
Dig deep – donate a little and follow their progress across the ocean. Please visit Angela’s Just Giving Page here
