‘Paraplegic Olympian, Angela Madsen is rowing the Pacific in her ocean rowing boat ‘Spirit of Orlando’. You may recall Angela’s first attempt at this crossing last year. On that occasion she had to abort her mission as she encountered seriously adverse weather conditions. The important thing though was that Angela was safe and lived to try again. For a time the boat was lost at sea too.
Adam Holland from Tavistock is taking part in his third Brathay 10in10 (10 marathons in 10 days) from 9-18 May. He currently holds the current Guinness World Record of 30hrs 20’54” for 10 marathons over consecutive days (an average of 3h02’05”. The annual game between Torquay Old Grammarians and Torquay Rugby Club will be a three-way this year, also featuring an Orlando Rogers XV made up of Orlando’s fellow team mates who all toured South Africa together 10 years ago.

Angela Madsen, Ocean Rower and Paralympian, will be setting off tomorrow Saturday 8th June from Santa Cruz on her solo row to Hawaii. Last minute preparations are underway and her boat ‘The Spirit of Orlando’ is loaded and ready to be put in the Ocean at Santa Cruz.
As some of you may or may not be aware, there is an Orlando Rogers Memorial Rugby Match planned for Boxing Day 2013, to be held at Torquay Athletic Rugby Club. Fittingly, the Memorial Match will coincide with the annual Old Grammarians Boxing Day fixture, and also a 10 year South Africa Tour Reunion of which Orland was an integral part of.
