Working in partnership with Brathay Trust, we are proud to support Adam Holland in a combined fundraising effort. The ultimate beneficiaries from all funds raised will be used to support some of the UK’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people with positive choices about their futures. This will include assisting successful applicants on the Brathay ‘Aspiring Leaders Programme’. (Closing date for this latter being 9th May).
Adam is an exceptional Guinness World Record Holding, marathon runner. His next venture is competing in the Brathay 10 in 10. That’s (an insane) 10 marathons on 10 consecutive days doing the Brathay Windermere Marathon Course. This means running 362 hilly miles on one of the most challenging road marathon courses around England’s largest lake. It’s not the first time he’s done this event either. He did the 10 in 10 in 2009 and 2010 and holds three Brathay 10 in 10 records:-
- The fastest 10 in 10 ever completed – recognised by Guinness World Records (he has also completed the second fastest 10 in 10 ever)
- The youngest person to complete 10 marathons in 10 days;
- The fastest individual marathon as part of a 10 in 10 challenge (2hrs 56′ 18 – 2010 on day 10!)
The Brathay 10 in 10 is sponsored by ASICS UK, High 5 & Power the Machine (nutrition and hydration), Adam Smith (sports physiology, massage and injury management), ECB Cold Spas (cryotherapy ice bath).
The dates of this epic marathon session are very poignant to all at Orlando Rogers Foundation. The first of the ten marathons starts on 9th May – Orlando’s 29th birthday. We are calling it Orlando’s Day. We know Orlando would have supported this extraordinary fundraising effort and laughed with mischievous delight at the sheer madness at the thought of 10 marathons in 10 days. The final tenth marathon ends on the 18th May, just three days after the third anniversary of Orlando’s death on May 15th.
This joint effort by all involved is such a positive move forwards and we do hope you will support Adam, Brathay Trust and Orlando Rogers Foundation in this venture.
